Trustees at Hope into Action Reading are responsible for the strategic oversight, management, and legal compliance of the charity to empower churches in housing the homeless. They act as the board, including roles like chair and treasurer, managing assets, safeguarding, and ensuring the charity operates in the best interests of its beneficiaries.
We currently have four trustees but we are always on the lookout for more! If you are interested and would like to explore becoming a trustee, please see the advertisment below.
Richard Croft,
Chair
I have been involved with Hope into Action Reading since 2017 as a befriender and now as a trustee. I'm a retired GP, and a member of St John & St Stephen's church, Reading. I love seeing what happens when someone gets a place to live and help back into a better life!
Mary Langshaw
Vice-chair, Buildings
My background is in architecture, journalism and teaching English as a second language. I am part of St John and St Stephen's church and have served as a trustee for Hope into Action Reading since 2019. Being able to help and empower those who have found themselves homeless is a privilege and a joy!
Joubert Gama,
Business
I am a Medical Dr, and worked in the NHS and the Global Pharmaceutical Industry. My family upbringing engendered a sense of justice and fairness and helping and caring for less fortunate people which I
endeavour to do. I am an active member of The English Martyrs RC community in Reading.
Sue Ralph,
Finance
Having worked in Finance all my life I was delighted to be asked to join the Board of trustees in 2019. Ensuring financial stability of the Charity in these difficult times is challenging. However, it is made so rewarding when I witness the positive journeys our tenants make when finding not just a roof over their heads, but a loving support network around them enabling them to thrive and grow.
